Autumn work in the garden of Animal rescue station

4. - 6.10.2019

After a sudden change of weather and with a forecast of rainy weekend, we set out on Friday, October 4, with a group of 9 volunteers to the picturesque small city Třeboň, where the NGO Český nadační fond pro vydru operates a rescue station for animals.

The weather let us working in total 82 hours only with a short interupption of rain and we worked mainly in the garden. We weeded and installed new herbs in two garden beds in form of pyramid, renovated four garden beds including delivering tens of wheelbarrows with local compost, painted a new construction, created a foundation for beans teepee, crushed branches and collected sawdust around new statues from wood. We made our weekend even more exciting with commentated tour in the rescue station with lots of fascinating information, visit of the city Třeboň and its local brewery with a small degustation. The bravest of us could hold and pet snakes and the greatest enthusiasm won the walk with two young otters to the near small river (called Zlatá stoka).

We would like to thank all the participating volunteers for friendly atmosphere, a lot of work which they did and we are looking forward to seeing you next time.
